This project is a major redevelopment of the existing Tweed Heads Hospital campus with a new Operating Suite, Day
Surgery, Endoscopy, CSSD, ICU, 5 new Inpatient Units, Birthing Suite, Community Health, Community Mental Health, and all building and back of house services including catering. The entire multi-staged master plan
strategy was designed in such a way to maintain a fully functioning hospital during the construction phase.
The redevelopment also integrates an acute inpatient mental health unit in a mainstreamed
setting.
The new community Health Centre at Tweed Heads District Hospital was designed in an existing 4 storey building which includes space for a variety of community health services including: Adult Health,
Child and Adolescent Health Community Mental Health, Allied Health.
Further work included a major 2 storey extension to Tweed Heads Hospital Stage 3 to provide a new 10 bed Renal unit as well as a separate
Pharmacotherapy Unit.
