April 2007
HFBS ll HFBS mark II Beta has been in development over a year. It may look
similar to HFBS but it has many new and forward-looking features built under the hood. HFBS II was commissioned on 24 April 07 after a
period of Beta testing. The features which have been enhanced are summarised below:
Switchboard This is a new screen that comes after Login. With numerous new
features in the system, it has become apparent that not all users are necessarily interested in "Projects", so unlike the original HFBS, they
are not taken directly to the Project Tab. They can choose any of the available modules and sub-modules such as:
- Projects Module
- Project
- Purchasing
- Costing
- Assets Module
- Mapping Module
- Administration Module
- User Preferences
- Domain Preferences
- Project Access
- Asset Access
- Users
- Domain QS
The switchboard pre-loads all Projects and Assets, so for heavy users
with many Projects and/or Assets, it will take a few seconds to load up. Then you can select a Project or Asset and go directly to it.
Totally new modules follow. Projects Departments Room Data FF & FE Costing Assets Administration New Modules:
Purchasing Module This module replaces the original simple FF & FE costing. The
Purchasing module is intended for Hospital purchasing officers. It has all the functionality of the FF & FE costing with much more. It allows you
to locate all FF & FE items in the project and specify the correct product for them. I allow you to apply one product selection to all items
or apply different product selections to different items, all on one screen.
Costing Module The costing module remains unchanged. However, the right to access
the costing module has been added to the Project Access tab. It is expected that the Costing module will be formally launched some time in 2007.
Mapping Module The Mapping Module is the beginning of a far reaching feature,
visualising a great proportion of the data available on the HFBS. The Mapping Module is also tied to the user security level. The Mapping
Module can show all Health Assets, Projects and Points of Interest (POI) on a Satellite map. The address is based on the entry in the address
fields of Projects and Assets, so correct data entry is necessary. Each item is represented by a marker. There are different marker shapes for
Projects, Assets, Support Services etc. The markers also indicate the Role Deleniation Level (RDL) of the facility (if specified). Clicking on a
marker will provide its key features on a side bar, including the listing of its departments.
Upcoming Features
DBconnect HFBS will soon have a series of custom export tables intended for
database connectivity to CAD systems. The DBconnect tables can be saved on a local computer hard drive and mapped to integrate with various CAD programs compatible with AutoCAD.

completed and commissioned. The contents are bring completed by a Domain QS. One typical template has been provided for Type C construction. All departmental rates have been entered.

Victoria Health Facility Guidelines. The result is printed in a variety of detailed reports including Room Data Sheets, Functional Area Analysis, FF&FE lists with budget costing etc.
For access to the system in NSW, contact Patsy Choo at NSW Department of Health. Alternatively, contact Aladin Niazmand at Health
Projects International.
An account holder in the HFBS system with a user name and password can access the web site at:

Health Projects International in association with Project Directors Australia was appointed as the Project Director for significant health
reform work in the WA South Metropolitan Area Health Service.
The work will initially include a 300 bed Hospital in Rockingham. The work also extends to Armadale Hospital, Freemantle Hospital and
many more.
The immediate deadline is for the completion of the Rockingham/ Kwinana Hospital at role delineation level 4/5 by 2008. The project will
be planned for the projected demand of 2016 but will be build for the projected demand of 2011.

Master Plans.

HPI’s web based office automation systems for the briefing and design of health projects is completed and commissioned. The system uses an
“industrial strength” web based database as its core. All automated briefing functions are available from a standard web browser. The system now has the ability to upload and download Room Layout
Sheets to match the Room Data Sheets generated on the system. Again, the drawings are viewable on a web browser, captured as a PDF preview.
Other built in functions include:
Direct access to the Standard Components of both NSW Health Facility Guidelines and the Victorian Design Guidelines for Hospitals
and Day Procedure Centres. Briefs for Hospital departments can be quickly assembled from these standard components, then customised
and printed in full detail. Entire departments such as a level 5 Intensive Care Unit may be imported either from the above design guidelines or from any other existing project.
Any existing project may be nominated as a “reference” project and its components may be called up and imported into other projects to
populate the required departments.
The Redevelopment of Bathurst and Orange Hospitals will be the pilot project for the implementation and testing of the above system.
January 2005
